Does anyone have a copy of TRACK for VM/370? I have started working on this at
home under Hercules and miss some of my favorite tools.

/Tom Kern
Yes, I do. :-)
If you download the current package from the web site
http://vm.marist.edu/track/code.html you will have the 5.2 updates. They
aren't "gold" yet but they should get you working. I still have not found
time to update all the doc, the web site, send a note to the list, etc
etc....
Use the TRACKV52 CNTRL file to rebuild, or use the TRACKV52 MODULE that is
included. If you can assemble your own I would recommend that over the
MODULE.

Thomas:

Have you discovered CPWATCH? It's sort of a stone-age version of RTM /
SMART, but provides some minimal ability to peer into virtual machine
state info on VM/370. I think it's preloaded as part of the VM/370 R6
distro that's available for Hercules. Launch via CP AUTOLOG, open up a
terminal session to your VM system, and "DIAL CPWATCH".

Old enough to remember when CPWATCH was actually pretty cool,

Yes, I have CPWATCH running, but I thought it just prowled the CP control
blocks. I like TRACK for looking at another virtual machine's memory, devices
and spooled console. Didn't CPWATCH have a CMS user program to communicate with
the server via VMCF?

Too many years since I've poked CPWATCH with a stick for me to recall.

I don't think TRACK dates back far enough to handle VM/370; the original
cut dates back to VM/SP / VM/HPO days and the underlying data structures
for CP and CMS differ quite a bit. I suspect that Jim Vincent is
perched nearby, watching this exchange with a suitably bemused
expression. Jim, would you care to comment further?
