Best of luck to you Dennis!

I have 7 years and 7 months officially, but with my youngest daughter being a
mere 6 years old I'll probably be mainframing for at least another 20 years.

Just call me spring chicken... I've probably got 15-20 years left.
Dennis--Enjoy retirement. I am looking forward to it in 2 years and 9
months, but who's counting ;-)
Seriously, as people such as Dennis retire, and there are still
mainframes around, I wonder where enough people will come from to
support them. When you look around at SHARE, you don't see many who
will be there beyond 10-15 years. I realize that as mainframes get
bigger and the software is incredibly more reliable, it takes fewer
people to support them, but still....
Jim
Greetings;
Today is my last day of gainful employment. I am retiring, finally.
Since I will no longer be involved with z-whatevers I will be
unsubscribing
from the various lists, but I will probably check the archives from
time to
time to see what is going on.
If there is any interesting stuff you think I would appreciate hearing
about
for as long as I am reachable.
So long to everybody, it has been fun!
Sincerely,
Dennis

Good luck Dennis!

As to years to go, I think I was holding the record for a number of years
(late 80s-mid/late 90s)....thankfully, zLinux breathed some new air into
z/VM and I'm not the "young one" anymore...but still, 28 to go (come on
powerball!) Seriously tho, can you believe they pay us to work with this
stuff?

Interesting point John. Some people may think I'm nuts, but I have
*alot* of fun doing what I do. It's not just a job...

I am looking at 4 years and 7 months....like someone
said, who's counting. The way these systems are
"dropping like flies" who knows how long we all got
left.
