For the most part I'm a linux, not VM geek, so I'm still trying to find my
way around. I want to see the status of an APAR so I'm using VMFINFO, but I
get the error : VMFINF2233I Table 4VMVMB40 SRVREQT not found. Query
cancelled

Any ideas?

The default for VMFINFO is to NOT set up the disk accesses for the
component. Try this: VMFINFO ZVM CP (SETUP and then try
your lookup
again. If that too fails, then you have a key VMSES file
M.I.A. - I presume you have backups? ;-)

Chris,
Are you executing VMFINFO from MAINT?
From the missing file identifier, it appears that you are
running z/VM 4.4.0 - it that actually true (when something
isn't going right, always include basic questions)?
That APAR VM63405 resulted in z/VM 440 PTF: UM31122, which
was included on RSU 0403. What RSU level are you running.

Is the LINK option still supported on your version of VMFSETUP ?
Ah, a little more information yields a better answer! Messages like the
following tell you two thing.
DMSACP113S E(2C4) not attached or invalid device address
VMFSET1905E The access of 2C4 failed with a return code of 100.
DMSACP113S E(2C4) not attached or invalid device address
Something caused MAINT's 2C4 disk to get detached.
VMFSET1905E The access of 2C4 failed with a return code of 100.
The CMS command 'ACCESS' received a return code 100 from "ACCESS 2C4 E" -
RC=100 is issued when the device is not linked.
I'm guessing that something detached a lot of MAINT's MDISKs (perhaps an
errant "DET 194-2C4" or somesuch?). Of maybe you have an EXEC that
detaches all unaccessed disks?
Easiest possible solution? LOGOFF MAINT, then LOGON MAINT, then the
"VMFINFO ZVM CP (SETUP" that Jim suggested.
If you are still missing disks, then look in the directory entry for MAINT
to see of they still exist (maybe say a little prayer before you do that).
If they exist, then look in MAINT's "PROFILE EXEC" to see what is
detaching them.

&gt; Chris, <br>
&gt; <br>
&gt; Are you executing VMFINFO from MAINT? &nbsp; <br>
&gt; From the missing file identifier, it appears that you are <br>
&gt; running z/VM 4.4.0 - it that actually true (when something <br>
&gt; isn't going right, always include basic questions)? &nbsp; <br>
&gt; <br>
&gt; That APAR VM63405 resulted in z/VM 440 PTF: UM31122, which <br>
&gt; was included on RSU 0403. &nbsp; What RSU level are you running. <br>

&nbsp; <br>
&gt; <br>
&gt; Nut you really should determine why VMFINFO is not getting <br>
&gt; the results you expect. <br>

&gt; &gt; The default for VMFINFO is to NOT set up the disk accesses for
the<br>
&gt; &gt; component. &nbsp; Try this: &nbsp; VMFINFO ZVM CP (SETUP and
then try <br>
&gt; &gt; your lookup<br>
&gt; &gt; again. &nbsp; If that too fails, then you have a key VMSES file
<br>
&gt; &gt; M.I.A. - I presume you have backups? &nbsp;;-)<br>
