Just curious - how many VM/VSE shops are "still
standing".
Our VSE system is now history.

I support a few and personally know of a few others that likely don't
use this list.

Ours is still here, but we are in the process of
setting up z Other System (to support our many
Sapiens apps, whose VSE support went away).

No decisions have yet been announced regarding the
VM/VSE life expectancy...

We have a VM/VSE system where I work, but I have very little to do with it.
I do know its life expectancy is about 12/18 months.

Dave.

PS. Does this get to the mail list proper if I post on news with a valid
e-mail address or do I have to use e-mail.

PPS Any one know where I can beg/steal/borrow some time on a modern VM
system. I have GCC 3.2.3 running on VM/370 & Hercules but can't get access
to our system at work to tweak it for a modern VM system.

Perhaps the last VM/VSE site in Indiana?

Calgary, Alberta and very uncommon. I can't get too specific due to
corporate confidentiality regulations, but we are running VM/VSE on a
z990 with slightly less than half a dozen processors. Classic IBM
"database" structure, and I don't mean DB2. Email and
reporting-intensive apps are moving to distributed platforms, but no
plans to migrate the rest at this time.

I am the systems programmer for DOS/VS/SP/VSE/ESA since 1968. We
process student records with CICS and VSAM files. We have also run
VM since 1984.

There are 14 universities in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher
Education (SSHE). Each university has it's own computer center but
the move is on to consolidate processing on a SAP system. Financials
and payroll have already been converted. Our university is
scheduled to begin using the SAP Campus Management in Fall 2007 but
I don't expect that it will be ready.

We run an 18 MIP FLEX-ES box. Since there is currently no plan to
move historical data to the SAP system we will downsize our FLEX-ES
box to 8 MIPS and run VM & VSE on ESL licenses for who knows how long.
