RTM/ESA is not supported on V5 systems, is it? Or have you written a VMC EXEC that invokes ESAMON?

Subject: "VMC SMART D " command

We upgraded from z/VM 4.3 to z/VM 5.1 a few months ago. Since the upgrade,
the "VMC SMART D" command seems to work differently. Specifically, it only
shows the top three users of the CPU. Under z/VM 4.3, it also showed some
device information. Does anyone have any ideas, or can anyone point me to
the documentation?

Thank you

IBM's replacement for both RTM (realtime monitoring) and the Performance
Reporting Facility (batch mode processing of CP monitor data) on current
z/VM releases is the z/VM Performance Toolkit. RTM and PRF are no longer
supported on 5.1.
The good news is that the Performance Toolkit comes pre-installed, so you
should already have it. And I believe customers with RTM or PRF licences can
still migrate to PerfKit free of charge and only have to pay a different
maintenance fee.

(BTW: While it is still possible to use the VMC interface, that is no longer
the recommended method for performance data retrieval with PerfKit; have a
look at the documentation.)
